We are delighted to be supporting Jo Cotterill, the Oxford based author of some of the UK’s best selling teen fiction. Jo is the author of Star Crossed, a book with very strong appeal to girls. Jo is talking to students at Burford and Farmors schools on Monday 7 November.
This is Madhatter Bookshop’s first author event and we have been massively helped in our learning curve by the librarians at both schools, Lynne Cooper and Judith Richardson, and Stephie Melrose at Jo’s publishers, Random House.
Find out more about Jo and her bestselling Sweethearts series, including the ever popular Star Crossed. Strictly Friends, Forget Me Not and Ice Dreams.
Jo is passionate about engaging students in the love of reading. She has talked at many schools in our local vicinity on several different occasions. Each time she seems to strike a new chord with her audience. Students attending Jo’s talks often describe the experience as being personally memorable and meaningful. In fact, Jo’s popularity means that Year Six pupils from many of the nearby primary schools also travel in to attend the talk. So it is with real pleasure that we look forward to supporting Jo in this quest.
We are continuing to build our relationships with local authors and will have a children’s event in November and a very inspiring poetry reading of the locally published Washing Lines anthology in early December. As the back cover of Washing Lines explains, using an extract from Laundry by Ruth Moose:
“There is joy in clean laundry
All is forgiven in water, sun and air.”
